Best Friends Again: Bid to Clone Your Dog
California biotech startup BioArts International is offering dog owners a unique opportunity. This week registration began for the opportunity to bid on the chance to have your dog cloned. BioArts says of their Best Friends Again project: “As many people are aware, dogs are arguably the most difficult mammal to clone. Due to the challenges unique to dog cloning, we can only offer a limited number of dog cloning service slots. With a very limited supply and a very large demand for this service, we have decided that an online auction is the fairest way to offer this special opportunity to the public.”
For those who are interested, you can register to bid during one of the online auctions at BestFriendsAgain.com. Bidding starts at $100,000 - $180,000 depending on which auction you participate in.
As much as I love Maggie and appreciate all of her special qualities and quirks, I won’t be participating in this auction. I can’t understand why while our shelters are overflowing with dogs in need of homes, people would spend this amount of money to make more dogs. Should I ever find myself in possession of $180,000 or more of disposable income, I would much rather spend it on aiding dogs in need. That’s just me. How about you? If you had the money to spend, would you want to clone your dog?
